Covid-19 Protocols

We hope you are staying healthy and enjoying the quarantine time by doing things you’ve always wanted to do but never had the time to. For Dr. Kanuga and Dr. Hirano, it has been a lot of daily cooking and creating flavorful and nutritious recipes with their kids. While Dr. Kanuga wished she could be more on top of her recipe/travel blog, she has a few interesting vegetarian meal ideas on her blog. You can check it out at

Your trusted pediatric dental team at Kidz Dental Care is getting ready to welcome you all back soon! We have been constantly updating ourselves with guidelines coming in from the CDC, the American Dental Association and the California Dental Association so that we can safely resume providing the highest level of dental care that your children deserve. We are continuing to provide consultations through teledentistry, here’s the link to schedule-

We are finding out that we were more than thorough with our infection control protocols even before and will only need to make minor tweaks for extra precautions. You may notice air purifiers in the office. We will need to clear the waiting area of toys, books and magazines and have the chairs further apart. Please assure the kids that behind that big gown, face mask and face shield, it is still their familiar friendly dentist and the team who are there to make their visit fun and comfortable.

We have hand sanitizers readily available for you and your children to sanitize your hands once you are in the office. We greatly appreciate you completing the necessary paperwork online before you come in. We are all about families and love having the whole clan over for your little one’s visit. However in times like this and to maintain sensible social distancing, we request you to limit 1 adult accompanying the child in the back. Please inform us if the patient or anyone in the family has been sick recently.

Those who know our practice philosophy are very well aware of our passion for prevention! Incorporating a thorough oral hygiene routine with twice daily supervised brushing with Fluoride toothpaste and flossing daily is important in the current times more than ever before. Stay at home of course calls for more snacking than usual. Try to choose more “teeth friendly snacks” like fresh fruits, veggies, popcorn, cheese, nuts, tofu, milk and limit sweet drinks, juices, sweets, crackers, raisins, cookies (anything that is starchy and sticky and breaks into sugar in the mouth even if it is not sweet in taste!). Remember to rinse your mouth with water after every meal, snack and drink so food does not stick on the teeth and start the cavity process.

Have questions about oral health? Please don’t hesitate to call and chat with us!

We are looking forward to finally being able to see you in person soon!
